31DC2014 - Day 10 - Gradient Nails - Seashore

10 September 2014

It's Day 10 of the 31 Day Challenge (31DC2014) and today's prompt is Gradient Nails! This marks the completion of the first section of the challenge... colours!

For this prompt, I created a gradient with three colours to make it look like the seashore and added some seashell studs from the Born Pretty Store (you can get 10% off with my coupon code KVL91)

I started by applying 2 coats of find me an oasis by essie as the base colour since it is the lightest out of the 3 I am using today. I then created a gradient with a sponge using 3 essie colours: where's my chauffeur by (turquoise), find me an oasis (light blue) and cocktails & coconuts (beige). I then sponged some Fairy Dust by China Glaze over the beige part of the gradient to add some sparkle. I finished the look with a coat of good to go top coat by essie and these 3mm Shell Studs from Born Pretty Store. You can get 10% off your purchase by using my coupon code KVL91.

The addition of Fairy Dust by China Glaze provides the beige colour with the subtle sparkle that is commonly found in sand. I also really like the way these colours look together! So here are pictures of the gradient by itself without the added studs.

I am really happy with the way this gradient turned out. The addition of some glitter and studs transforms this look from a plain and simple gradient to beautiful nail art! As always, remember to follow the other bloggers participating in this challenge using the hashtag #31DC2014 on social media and check back tomorrow for Day 11!

    1. Thank you so much :) It's taken me a while to figure out how to get the super smooth gradient transitions between the colours. A tutorial from thenailpolishchallenge on youtube really helped!
