It's Day 06 of the 31 Day Challenge (31DC2014) and today's prompt is Violet Nails.
Purple is usually a colour that doesn't look great against my skin tone... especially the lighter purples that I love in the bottles! To really highlight the colour prompt, I thought a simple ruffian would look great the darker outline would provide a barrier so that the lighter purple colour and my skin tone don't clash!
Initially I picked a much lighter purple as the main colour but it looked very pink and too light... AND so many bubbles! So I picked up a classic favourite, play date by essie as I knew it would not give me any problems.
I started with 1 coat of Miss You-niverse by OPI and then free-handed the ruffian with play date by essie. I had to apply 2 coats of play date to achieve the opaqueness and cover the darker purple. I then used a detail brush to clean up the edges of the ruffian and finished off the look with 1 coat of good to go top coat by essie.
