Nail Polish Review - OPI Fifty Shades of Grey Collection

9 February 2015

Hi everyone! Today, I have swatches of the new OPI collaboration collection... the Fifty Shades of Grey Collection! And the best part is that the entire collection comes in a mini set with all 6 polishes in this collection. That is such good value because we can own the entire collection without murdering our wallets.

Overall Comments: OMG! Grey polishes... so awesome! The creme polishes in this collection are just perfect as expected from OPI. They have a very pigmented and buttery formula and dry to a glossy finish. The silver foil is not that original and lately OPI has released too many silver foils... so it's not that exciting! And there's a pretty okay glitter polish in the mix too.

Cement the Deal
Colour: Light Grey | Finish: Creme | # of Coats: 2 | Topcoat: Yes | Rating: 10/10

Comments: This a beautiful cool-toned, light, elephant-grey creme polish. The formula is buttery smooth, pigmented and dries to a perfectly glossy finish. There's not much else to say about this polish... it's a perfect, beautiful grey creme polish!

Embrace the Gray
Colour: Medium Grey | Finish: Creme | # of Coats: 2 | Topcoat: Yes | Rating: 10/10

Comments: This is a beautiful cool-toned, medium, slate-grey creme polish. As expected the formula is buttery smooth and perfectly opaque in just 2 coats and dries to a glossy finish. This is another must-have from this collection because who doesn't love grey nail polish?!

Dark Side of the Mood
Colour: Dark Grey | Finish: Creme | # of Coats: 3 | Topcoat: Yes | Rating: 11/10

Comments: AHHH! Must buy now! This is a gorgeous dark grey creme polish that is just pure perfection. So what that it needed 3 coats? The slightly sheer formula gives it a squishy look that is just so gorgeous, which is why I gave it an 11 out of 10!

My Silk Tie
Colour: Silver | Finish: Foil | # of Coats: 3 | Topcoat: No | Rating: 6/10

Comments: It's a silver foil polish... not that original and it doesn't have the best formula. OPI has released a few silver polishes in the recent past so this wasn't something very exciting. And like I mentioned, the formula was very sheer and needed 3 coats. And not to mention, it was very brush-strokey! So you can totally skip buying this polish... there's better silver foil polishes out there!

Shine for Me
Colour: Silver & Blue | Finish: Foil-Glitter | # of Coats: 3 | Topcoat: No | Rating: 7/10

Comments: This is a silver foil polish with blue bits of glitter in it... which kind of makes this a unique take on a silver foil polish. It has a sheer formula and needed 3 coats for full opacity, which you can see on the ring finger. Since it's so sheer, I decided to layer just 1 coat of it on the other 3 grey creme polishes I reviewed above to see how it looks. It seems like an ugly idea for a polish but it's slowly growing on me especially since the blue glitter bits look amazing on the cool-toned grey cremes.

Romantically Involved
Colour: Dark Red | Finish: Creme | # of Coats: 2 | Topcoat: Yes | Rating: 9/10

Comments: We all know OPI makes the most amazing red polishes... so this isn't a surprise that this is a great dark red creme polish with an amazing formula! It's so sexy and sultry but definitely wearable because it is a little darker than a true-red polish.

Well... what do you think of this collection?! I am sure it's not surprising that my top pick is Dark Side of the Mood followed very closely by Embrace the Gray and Cement the Deal!

I definitely recommend that everyone buys at least the three grey cremes. Did you know Harlow & Co now also carries OPI?! Go on over and buy them now if you don't already have this collection.

As about this collection, I love the grey shades.
My Silk Tie is not my favorite because of the finish of it, but I have to admit all the polishes have ingenious names!
